Kelly K. Edmundson, Psychotherapist

Kelly is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Counselor in Nevada.  She is also a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California.  

Kelly obtained her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Sofia University (Palo Alto, CA) and a Bachelors degree in Fine Art Dance from Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle, WA).  She has participated in advanced training in Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Psychosynthesis, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention, Expressive Arts Therapy, Group Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy and Body-Centered Psychotherapy. She weaves elements of several modalities into the art and practice of counseling.

Kelly has worked with a broad range of clients in a variety of agency and school settings throughout the Reno-Tahoe region and helped create suicide prevention, intervention and postvention policy and regulations and SEL (Social Emotional Learning) plans and interventions within the Carson City School District.  She has founded and facilitated several psychoeducational and therapeutic support groups for adolescents and adults (Transgender Emergence, Embodied Living, Mindfulness in Recovery, True You, Life Transitions, S.A.G.E., Sexual Health in Recovery and The Best Y.E.A.R.S.)

Kelly has been committed to the health and well-being of the Tahoe community for many years.  Before becoming a therapist, Kelly provided supportive services to children and families as Site Supervisor and Senior Case Manager for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of El Dorado in South Lake Tahoe, CA. 

As a member of the SOCC (Standards of Care Collective) in Northern NV, Kelly provides reduced rate therapeutic services to transgender and gender-expansive individuals.  Kelly is certified by the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy as a licensed Clinical Fellow and has served on the Board of Directors for the Nevada Association for Marriage & Family Therapy.

In her free time, Kelly is out exploring Lake Tahoe and the California coast with her family and friends.  She thrives being out in nature and enjoys SUP, mountain biking, yoga, backcountry and nordic skiing, rock climbing, live music, travel, cooking and gardening.
